‍If you are not currently preparing to invest on a set schedule, you are probably less likely to actually invest. Whether it’s weekly, monthly, quarterly, or annually, putting a specified amount into an investment account on a set schedule is a great strategy for becoming a successful investor. You don’t necessarily have to be buying an investment every week, month, or year but rather be prepared to do so by setting this money aside. Applying this strategy is the first step to setting yourself up for success for tip #2.

‍People talk all the time about timing the market. It is commonly said, “Timing the market is a fool’s errand.” To explain this, consider the curve below depicting a rising market.

 How do we know when the market is at the top? We won’t know until the top is gone and the market has begun to fall. The same holds true for timing the bottom of the market. So the only way you know whether you are at the top or bottom is when the top or bottom has formed. In other words, you can only tell based on the past which isn’t super helpful. Essentially, to hit the exact top or bottom is basically luck.

Doing your research and identifying good investments are more likely to bring you better results than attempting to time the market and potentially missing out on great opportunities. Follow these tips for investing and implement them into your wealth plan to better achieve your goals!
